Painting with Hot Wax

The challenges of painting with hot wax are also its joys – the fluidity of molten wax and the suddenness of its return to its solid state. I never get tired of watching the wax dry as soon as it leaves my brush.

Using a hot stylus is as quirky as it is labor intensive – imagine a fountain pen that heats its own ink.

Put these things together and off I go…

All of these paintings are encaustic on cradled wood panels.
